Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.481

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Cape May bungalow. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on a tiny 6 inch by 6 inch gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting.

Although it may not first appear so, I have actually spent considerable time working on the painting. Starting up on the porch, the shaded wall has actually been given some shading. This gives a little depth and pushes the porch posts forward just a bit. To either side, the buildings next door have been given a bit of separation by finally changing their color to a shade of blue. Moving down the stairs, I've attempted to move away from the heavily outlined handrails of the prior installment. There are now only faint lines and highlights. Speaking of those highlighted areas, I'm considering carrying the highlights down the front-facing posts of the handrails. Although the photo does not have such highlights, I believe that this would enhance the effect of the highlighted areas. Stay tuned. Finally, I have begun working on the awning which now has given up its ragged lower edge.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have a more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.480

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Cape May bungalow. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on a tiny 6 inch by 6 inch gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting.

There are many changes this week. Starting out in front, the Saab to the left has been heavily revised. It now has lit areas along its body side. The cornering light out front now carries an amber lens. Above, the glass now has transparent and opaque areas. Note that the Saab to the right has had its glass overpainted in a darker blue. The sidewalk seen between the Saabs has been painted over as well. Behind, the bungalow has been cleaned up. The original blue outlines have mostly been banished. The steps and railing have straight clean lines. Note that the highlights on the railings, as well as other similar highlights, will be adjusted in a future installment. Above, I've reshaped the porch columns. The doors and windows now have proper shape and detail. Note the details of the porch railings. Finally, the awning has its highlight, a detail that will also see revision.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.479

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Cape May bungalow. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on a tiny 6 inch by 6 inch gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting.

I've kept my efforts confined to the foreground, which now actually shows significant progress. All the earlier slow preparation may have been worth it. Below, the roadway has been painted with lit and shadowed areas under the cars. Finally, those cars have stopped floating in a sea of blue and are firmly grounded. As to the cars themselves, wheels and tires have been painted in variations of blues, blacks and grays. The Saab to the right has had its body color painted in the same blue and black paint. I've attempted to show highlights with these two colors. Details of the rear end have also been started. The focus on details also extends to the Saab on the left, where the rub strip has been painted in black on the body side. The body color has been adjusted as well. There are still a few adjustments to make but I'm pleased with this week's cycle.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have a more progress to show you next week. See you then.

Well, I've finally covered the last large patch of initial blue paint. The awning now appears in green but it's only the start. Other updates include blue paint added to the Saab on the right. It's also been applied to the roadway. Tires on both cars now appear in a blackish blue. That's it for now. I'll try to push things a little further along for next week.

Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.477

Hello again painting fans.

This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Cape May bungalow. The photo that I am using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on a tiny 6 inch by 6 inch gallery-wrapped canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting.

I have continued to refine the painting. Starting at the top, I've done some work on the central window in the gable. It still needs more attention but that will come in a future installment. For now, it is nicely outlined. Just below, the roof has received some brownish paint. Again, a work in progress. On the porch, the windows and door now have the same brownish paint. You can begin to see how these elements contrast with the wall and porch. I've also outlined the porch posts and floor with the same paint. That paint also carries down to the steps. The Saab to the left is also a lucky recipient of the same color. The Saab windows, tire and roadway have each received a lightened version of the same color. What can I say, I like consistency.

The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

I'll have a more progress to show you next week. See you then.
